It is well known that food and wine are among Sicily's main attraction. Sicily is renowned for its seafood. Grilled swordfish is very popular or smaller fish, especially snapper, prepared in a vinegar and sugar sauce. Meat dishes are traditionally made with lamb or goat. Particular is the marsala dressing.

Sicilian desserts are also superlative. Among the most famous are Cannoli (tubular crusts with creamy ricotta and sugar filling), Cassata (a rich, sugary cake filled with the same filling), Frutta di Martorana (almond marzipan pastries coloured and shaped to resemble real fruit) or a wide variety of excellent Sicilian ice cream.
