Within the EASYWAY European Community Program, on October 14-16, 2008, the first European Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) took place in Giardini Naxos - Taormina, organized by SINA S.p.A., as national coordinator of the Program, with the support of AISCAT.

At the Conference, opened by the Minister of Infrastructures and Transport Sen. Altero Matteoli, important representatives of the national and EU institutions, of the twenty-three Member States participating in the program, as well as the managers of the major European infrastructures, discussed the main themes of interest within the following thematic sessions.

Traffic management services on trans-European motorways.

Information systems for users throughout Europe.

Goods, logistics and co-modality on the trans-European motorways.

Technological infrastructures for trans-European motorways.

Studies of European significance.

During the days, institutional and technical interventions were carried out both by the Association and by some concessionary companies that have highlighted, at a pan-European level, the experience of national operators in the field of ITS.
